		<description>January 2012
Recently I collaborated with a small workshop of artists led by Jacky Redgate to produce a photo essay on Narelle Jubelin's current work Vision in Motion. Narelle's work responds to the often overlooked modernist architecture within the grounds of University of Sydney. The Depth of Field photo essay utilises purpose built pinhole cameras to capture the reflections and movement between Narelle's work and the architecture it inhabits. Some of the final images will soon be posted here.

		<description>Honours exhibition 2011
Shown at the FCA Gallery at Wollongong University, 4th - 10th of November.

The starting point for my creative work Feralscape is a personal connection with the Australian landscape where I grew up in the central west of New South Wales in the early 1980s. The work produced is a series of textual objects using mixed media, native and ‘feral’ flora and fauna and homemade electronics, in response to my memories from childhood and my recent return in 2010-11.

A postcolonial heritage informs my personal perceptions of the landscape recalling ‘feral’ sightings – thistles dominate pasture, willow trees surround natural springs, and a wild cat wanders the paddocks and rampant foxes spend the evenings scavenging. These European influences are dominant in my early memories of the farm.

Repeated sculptural forms throughout the work along with photographic and video documentation have been derived or captured from an iPhone. Today, in Australia and across the globe many people experience cultural dislocation as our environment does not always reflect our history; as a result culture is carried with us in the ‘portable practices’ of our everyday lives like images, rituals, memory, clothing and cuisine (Bourriaud 2009, p. 33). The iPhone is also carried on the body, it translates our experiences as a digital memory bank capturing and sending out information about the path we traverse. The work considers cultural and geographic boundaries, along with themes of dislocation within the context of the Australian landscape and post-colonialism.
